Brian Spears Presents at NACDL Annual White Collar Crime Conference
Brian Spears addressed members of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers at the annual White Collar Crime Conference in Washington, DC. Brian joined a panel of lawyers speaking about recent criminal antitrust cases brought by the U.S. Department of Justice. Brian discussed Spears Manning & Martini’s representation of the lead defendant in United States v. Patel, et al., in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut.
Brian shared his experiences in the case including motion practice, evidentiary challenges to the DOJ’s attempted use of emails, and trial strategy. Brian also discussed his observations relating joint defense dynamics in multi-defendant cases and the acquittal of all six defendants on April 28, 2023, including Spears Manning & Martini’s client, Mahesh Patel.
